What I Ate Wednesday 2

Hey loves! Welcome back to What I Ate Wednesday. I am actually enjoying doing these posts.  I have a weird fascination with food and what people eat. I have been doing very good sticking to eating fairly healthy--besides the chocolate I had this day but you know I am a girl and I need chocolate in my life. Here is what I ate:

Of course I started with my day with Donut Shop Medium Roast Extra Bold Coffee and French Vanilla creamer.

Seriously, if you love yogurt and kitkats this is the BOMB. I love the little crunchy chocolate balls and unsweetened yogurt.

I have been trying to switch up my lunch because I feel like lunch is always boring. Sandwich Thin, Chicken Breast, Cheese, and a little mayo. Not the most amazing thing but I do like.

This is such a staple dinner for me. I love chicken and asparagus in a little olive oil and garlic salt. Of course I am a total BBQ lover I need to have a little Sweet Baby Rays only the best BBQ sauce on the planet. Amen!

I have still been working on hammering down the water daily- I do feel less bloated if I drink an increased amount of water. I forgot to log in my BBQ Sauce, garlic salt, and olive oil. Forgive me. I also indulged in some Dove Chocolate and Fiber One brownie (not pictured). I love the 90 calorie brownies because that usually calms my sweet tooth and "keeps me regular" because of the fiber. Do you have any items that curve your sweet tooth?

Favorite Drugstore Foundation + Review

Hey loves! Mattifying, great coverage, long wearing, not cakey, and blendable isn't that what you look for in a great foundation? I know that is everything I want in a foundation and hey, affordable isn't bad either right! I am a foundation junkie. Foundation is probably one of my favorite things to try out in the makeup world. I have used many high end and drugstore versions. I want to share my holy grail drugstore foundation with you guys,
Covergirl's Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation came out earlier this year and was totally hyped up by beauty bloggers and YouTube guru's alike. I have oily skin but I find that I can wear this foundation for 5 hours before a touch up or blot is needed. I have heard that dry and combo skin do not have a need to touch up. This is my everyday foundation because the coverage is amazing, wears through an 8 hour work day, doesn't cake up after applying powder, and blends flawlessly. Lets breakdown the claims and common questions for this foundation.

What does this foundation claim to do?
"All-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long."  **taken from Covergirl Website

Do you use a primer before applying this foundation?
I do only because I have very oily skin. I like MAC's Mattifying Gel or Benefit PoreFessional.

Do you apply concealer as well?
I apply concealer on any acne spots and concealer as a highlight under eyes and bridge of nose.

Do you set with a powder?
I usually let foundation set 2 minutes until no longer tacky and apply MAC's Mineralized SkinFinish Natural.

Where can I find this foundation?
Drugstores like Wal-Mart, Target, RiteAid, Walgreens, Shopko etc...

How much is this foundation?
$8-$12.00 depending on location

How many shades are available to purchase?
Covergirl's website has 14 shades available though I have only seen about 7-10 in stores at one time.

How do you apply this foundation?
My favorite ways are with a damp beauty blender or F80 Flat Top Kabuki by Sigma

Do you prefer this over your old holy grail foundation Revlon ColorStay?
Actually, I do love this more. I still like that there are 2 formulas available for skin types and more color range available for the Revlon ColorStay. That is a downfall for the shade range available in Covergirl Foundation.

Left Side has foundation and primer. My skin has drastically improved with Clarisonic.

Here is half of my face with Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. I am wearing a primer but no powder or concealer. As you can tell the redness is completely covered and my skin looks skin-like not overly "foundation" looking.

I wear shade Buff Beige-825. I think there is a little bit of a pink undertone but still matches my slight olive tone skin. I would suggest that you get a shade lighter than your skin because I do notice after 1 hour the foundation does begin to oxidize a little.

Pros:
-long wearing
-amazing coverage
-blendable
-flawless finish
-affordable
-bottle with a pump
-SPF 20

Cons:
-oxidizes
-shade range
-glass bottle (which is awesome until you drop the bottle and shatter the foundation)
-requires blotting or touch-up  ***oily skin only
-slight very small white cast in photos from SPF

Overall, I would give this foundation a 4.5/5. I have purchased several bottles already and I will continue to repurchase. I hope in the near future this is not a foundation that gets discontinued I would be totally heartbroken. Seems like that happens with all the good products or they decide to redo the formula. Have any of you tried this foundation and what do you think? What is your favorite drugstore foundation?

Tag: Perfect Nude Lip

Hey Loves! I saw this tag flying around the YouTube beauty world. Oh, if you know anything about me then you know I am a huge nude lip lover! I thought I can do this tag-so easy! I know a lot of people think nude and automatically think "concealer lips". Ladies, you can wear a nude lip and totally rock-it! See my favorite nude lip below:

Liner- Seduce (top) Gloss-NYX (middle) Lipstick Myth (bottom)

Lipliner- Covergirl Lip Perfect in 210 Seduce
Lipstick- MAC Myth
Gloss- NYX Buttergloss in Creme Brulee

This is probably not only my favorite nude lip this is probably my most worn lip. I like to switch out the NYX Butter glosses sometimes a little more pink like Apple Strudel instead of Creme Brulee. If you are not willing or able to shell out $15.00 for MAC Myth- I would suggest Fergie Daily from Wet N Wild which is usually around $2.00 at Wal-Mart. I have a post on that lipstick here. That is a little bit more of a beige nude than pink like Myth but would work perfectly. Let me know what your favorite nude lip products are down below.

OOTD: Military

Hey Loves! I figured I would throw in a quick OOTD (outfit of the day) for you guys. I don't get to wear real clothes often because I wear scrubs at work so these post might be few and far between. I had a work conference this weekend that is semi-casual so I didn't need to get overly dressed up so I went with a dress tank and military jacket. I didn't want to wear jeans because I felt that dressed down the outfit a little too much so I went the next best thing leggings and tall boots.
I love the feminine detail on the tank top and the masculine military jacket. Always good to mix up textures and patterns.

Military Jacket - Target Mossimo Brand
Crotchet Tank - Target Mossimo Brand
Leggings - TJ Maxx- Betsy Johnson
Boots - Target - No idea
Bracelet- Banana Republic

Lips- MAC's Hue
Eyes- Urban Decay Naked Basics
Cheeks- Laura Geller Air Whipped Blush in Whisper Mulberry

Hair- 2nd day hair Batiste Dry Shampoo and 1 inch curling iron

Hopefully this helped you get a little inspiration for a outfit for yourself some day! Sorry the pictures aren't the best kind of hard to capture your own outfit.

DIY: Refinish A Dresser

Hey Loves! I don't know about you girls but I love scrolling the pages of Pinterest looking for ideas on home decor and DIY projects. I kept seeing post of people taking older looking dressers and turning them into gorgeous more modern pieces. Don't get me wrong who doesn't want fabulous bedroom furniture, but have you seen the ridiculous prices on the furniture? I know that I don't want to pay $300+ for a modern looking dresser so I went on the hunt to find a cheaper alternative.
I looked on Craigslist around my area for a dresser to refinish. I search for weeks and all I could find was pieces that were around $100 which I still thought was a little much for a piece I am going to refinish and buy all new pulls for. So I put out an ad at work because we have a Bulletin Board which is just like Craigslist but only from people who work within the clinic system. Pretty awesome if you ask me. So I put an ad in wanted section that I was looking for a dresser to refinish. I receive an email with a picture of the perfect dresser and get this for free all I had to do was pick up the dresser. How amazing is that! With the help of my dad I had the dresser picked up and I was all ready for a weekend project.

I only had to purchase the paint ($11) and 5 drawer pulls ($12). I only spent 23 dollars refinishing this. Now if you need to buy the dresser itself or other supplies obviously your cost will go up but still a whole lot cheaper than buy brand new. Lets take a look at the before and after of my new gem!

Before

After

Supplies:
-Electric Sander
-Paint (I used black)
-Paint Brush
-Drawer Pulls

1. Sand down dresser to get rid of any imperfections
2. Wipe down the dresser with a dry towel to remove any excess dust
3. Paint dresser-- I did two coats
4. Allow paint to dry and add new pulls

So easy!  I can't believe how easy this project was and how much money I saved. I put the dresser in my bedroom and am also using as a TV stand which works great! Have you ever redone any furniture like this? I am so excited to find another DIY project.

NOTD: Wet N Wild Under Your Spell

Hey Loves! I like to paint my nails usually once a week. This is actually one thing beauty related that I don't love. I love picking out colors but waiting 40 minutes for my nails to dry is not something I enjoy. Seems like every time I start painting my nails I some how have to go to the bathroom, you know what I mean?
I do like darker colors in general for the winter time. I heard about this brand of polish from LeighAnn from LeighAnnSays on YouTube. She is in love with this formula.

Wet N Wild- Under Your Spell

I have to admit I am not the neatness painter on earth as you can tell from the pictures above. If I don't have any where that I need to be right away I just let the polish on my skin come off through everyday where and tear. I could easily run a Q-tip along the edge but hey, I am lazy! What are your favorite polishes?

First Impression-Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara

Hey loves! Yes, I know a first impression in a month of a makeup no buy?!? I used up 2 full sized mascaras and 1 sample size. I needed to buy a new one so why not try out one!
Let me fill you in on my lashes first off. I have many long lashes. I don't struggle with length at all. My lashes tend to clump up easily because I have so many lashes. I love to coat my lashes in mascara and love lots of thickness at the base. My favorite mascara of all time is the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black which I think gives the perfect amount of separation and volume which is what I look for in a mascara.
I purchased the Covergirl Bombshell Volume by lashblast mascara at Wal-Mart for $8.97. Let me just say this is the largest tube of mascara I have ever seen! This is a double ended mascara. What this mascara claims "mega volume and dark intensity in one mascara for an over the top bombshell look." and the front of the package says "big sexy bombshell lashes" Side 1 claims "load on for unbelievably big volume" and side 2 claims "seal in with one coat for an intense, dark, all day finish"
Let's get into the pictures and first impression.

My lashes without mascara and I do have my everyday work eyeshadow applied without any liner.

Side 1 brush is similar to the other brushes in the lashblast line. A larger rubber bristled brush that tapers towards the end.
This is my lashes after 1 coat of side 1. Now this is the side that claims volume- I don't exactly see volume but I do think my lashes are nicely separated. I found this formula a little watery. I am not in love with rubber bristled brushes to begin with I always feel like I am stabbing my eye when I try to apply.

Side 2 brush is a regular brush with soft bristles nothing over the top-this is the typical style brush that I go for. I feel like this type of brush allows me to wiggle close to the lash line for good volume at the base.

This is my lashes after 1 coat of side 2. I think this side should be labeled the voluminous side if anything. I like that my lashes appear thicker and darker which is part of the side 2 claim.

This is my lashes after a 2nd coat of side 2. As you can see I did get mascara on to my lid which usually happens because my lashes are so long. Except I did not get the waterproof formula and I could not get this off with a dry q-tip or makeup remover wipe. I had to get out my eye makeup remover and took off half my shadow too. Not impressed with that. I do like that my lashes look very thick and long but this still isn't my favorite way for my lashes to look. I felt like because the brushes are double ended that I had a hard one getting the wand up against my upper lash line for volume at the roots.

This is my lashes after I curled them- I know you aren't really supposed I curl your lashes after you apply mascara but sadly I do! I find otherwise I can't get all my lashes coated just right and I only curl my lashes like twice a week. I also have black liner on my tight line and waterline.

I applied this mascara before going to work- really early as you can tell. I will check back in a few hours but right now I am only having an "okay" feeling about this mascara maybe 2.5/5 right now. Let's see how this holds up through a 13 hour work day!

After a 12 hour work day I did not have any flaking onto my face but I did have transfer of color underneath my eyebrows which does happen with most mascara's because I have oily eyelids and I even put a primer on my eyelid before I apply eye shadow. I do think the mascara holds a curl without falling or flaking.
I tried to use a make-up remover and a face wash to get the mascara off but I am still left with mascara on my eyelashes--this isn't even a waterproof formula. I am going to try this mascara again for a few days but night now I still love my L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black better.

Pros:
-dark pigmentation
-holds curl
-separation
-length
-non flaking formula

Cons:
-hard to get off
-stubby wands
-bulky packaging
-spiky rubber brush (not a con for everyone)

Would I repurchase? Right now I don't really think I would. I give the mascara a 3/5 because there was no flakes and curl held all day. I am not impressed that I cannot get the mascara off and lack of volume. Have you tried this mascara- what do you think?

Changing Colors- New Hair

Hey loves! I love to change my hair color up! I have had red, blonde, black, and auburn. Most recently I had purple highlights throughout my hair for a good 8 weeks with a dark violet brown all over color. One of my best friends does my hair for me. I usually get a color and trim every 8 weeks. I am a huge believer in getting regular trims to keep your hair healthy and honestly that is how I grew my hair out without a lot of damage.

Here is me with my purple hair! I loved the purple color so much.

Here I am getting my new color. I decided that I wanted to cover up almost all of the purple highlights with an almost black color. I previously needed the bleach my hair before the purple was applied for a better more vibrant purple. This obviously did damage my hair a little so I decided to go back dark My natural hair color is a dark brown but I like to keep it a little more rich. As you an see in the picture I did keep 2 foils of purple highlights and I am going to apply the purple color over them for a little dimension  soon. My hairstylist uses Matrix hair color products.

Tada new hair color! I never wash my hair the next day after I get a fresh color this allows the dye to really take to the hair and I find the color lasts a lot longer this way. I did get a trim and more layers on the top half of my hair.
Hopefully you all enjoyed this post. Stay tuned for more beauty related goodness!

Hate it: Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof liquid liner

Hey loves! I blog about all of these products that I love but what about those products I can't stand-well here is one of them!
A friend gifted me the Urban Decay 24/7 liquid eyeliner in Perversion. She doesn't use liquid liner and thought I would like the product! How nice, right? I love liquid liner and use the Maybelline Line Stilleto has my holy grail liner. I thought I would love this Urban Decay liner I already use their glide-on 24/7 eye pencils, eye shadows, and primer potion. I had high hopes for this product to be the perfect dark black stay on all day liner. Man was I wrong...

I thought great this is going to the the blackest liner ever... Not. As you can see by the swatch I found the liner to be a bit watery and not as pigmented as the pencil liner in perversion. You are able to draw thick and thin lines and frankly I liked this liner for doing a good wing. I also found when I was trying to take the liner off there would be chunks left behind like stuck on my eye lid. I feel like the liner dries almost to a "peel-off" finish. I don't know exactly how to describe it but it isn't like normal liner that just paints across your eyelid and dries. I would definitely call this "waterproof" that is for sure.
Now that is not even the worst thing... I tested out this liner for a good few days. The first day I noticed a little burning after the liner had dried and later that day my eyelid felt really itchy and my eye was so dry. I figured oh whatever I will try it out again. Mind you I did not try anything else new when testing this liner out. Same eye shadow, mascara, and primer.  I noticed my eyelid started to get really dry and my actual eyelid started to peel off!
Notice on the outer corner of my lid that my skin is missing. This liner is horrible! I can't believe that I am actually missing the skin on my eyelid all because of this eyeliner!!! Ahh... let me tell you I thought maybe I could apply a skin color eye shadow and no one would notice wrong...you could see the scaliness on both eyelids. Horrible.

Hopefully no one else had the same problems with this liner as I did. I had huge high hopes and totally was disappointed. This is the first time that I have had something this bad happen with any makeup product ever. Anyone else have something this bad happen?

What I Ate Wednesday

Hey loves! Besides my love of makeup and everything beauty related I also really enjoy food. I figured hey it is a new year and who doesn't love to see what other people are eating. Of course I am that person who wants to "lose weight and be healthier" this new year! Hey, someone has to do it!  I took pictures of everything that I ate today just to give you a little sneak peek into my daily eating habits. My goals for this year including more H2O which isn't always the easiest but a definite must for a healthier you and eat less processed food-more raw. New blog idea came about for What I Ate Wednesday- these wont necessarily be every Wednesday but a few times a month. Lets jump into my stomach-

Donut Shop Coffee with Coffee-Mate French Vanilla Creamer

I drink this coffee goodness all day long at least 4 cups. I add a little splash of creamer to each cup which is such a bad habit with all the extra sugar. You will learn that I do not do "sugar-free" items and I also stay away from "Fat-Free". My outlook is that all those new chemicals are not researched enough and I think are harmful to your body. I also would rather have the real thing in moderation.

Muller Low Fat Plain Greek Yogurt with Choco Balls

I usually eat breakfast around 10:00 after I have indulged in several cups of joe. I like to have yogurt or fruit usually. I love this yogurt because it packs a lot of protein to hold you over to the next meal and those yummy little chocolate balls add a sweet crunch which craves my sweet tooth a little.  They also have other flavors like strawberry or granola. I like that the yogurt isn't already sweetened. Another greek yogurt brand I like is Oikos in Key Lime.

Chicken Enchiladas- Homemade

My mom taught me how to make these yummy chicken enchiladas. I usually make a whole pan which 6-7 tortillas and I usually eat the meal at least 4-5 times. I like to make this when I know I am going to have a busy work week so I can bring to work for my lunch. I can do a separate post on how to make these scrumptious babies if you would find that interesting.

 1 cup fresh Strawberries

I love to have a snack midday around 2:00 to hold me over until I get home from work or gym later in the evening. I like to have fruit or a veggie snack. Recently I have had a craving for Strawberries- usually about 5 strawberries halved

1/2 Kemps Cottage Cheese with Chives
6-8 Asparagus Spears with olive oil and garlic salt
1 cup grilled chicken breast with olive oil and minced garlic
500 mL of water-usually consume one at work and one in the evening

I love dinner! I try to fit in a veggie with protein and a little something extra. Asparagus is my favorite vegetable ever. I buy the steamer bags and divide into three portions for three separate meals that week. I buy the Tyson Chicken Strips in the freezer section and heat up on the stove or I use whole breasts in my George Foremen Grill. I also like to make Stir Fry with Shrimp and veggies- another popular dinner meal. This day I chose to have cottage cheese for a little extra diary product but you can have almonds, pretzels, fruit, veggies, or whatever you like.

1 tea bag Super Dieter's Tea
1 tea bag Lipton Green Tea Mixed Berry Flavor

I like to have a warm cup of tea a few nights a week. If you know anything about super dieter's tea you know that it can be powerful and if you don't well simply put it helps you poop. Too much information I know. I like to once a week let a bag steep in my hot water for only 1 minute and then I add the mixed berry tea for remainder of the time.

I use MyFitnessPal application to track my calories, water intake, and exercise. I stick to a 1,200 calorie diet most days. I try to include fruit and veggies into my diet which sometimes is hard for me. I love my carbohydrates-I wish I didn't crave those buggers. I try to eat most of my carbs before dinner-before 3pm.

Hopefully you enjoyed my What I Ate Wednesday. I look forward to posting more in the future- Cheers to a new year and new goals!

FOTD: Everyday Work

Hey loves!! I figured you might be interested in my "everyday" look that I wear to work daily.  I work as a health professional so less is always more. I don't go crazy with glitter or heavy winged liner or bold lips. I try to keep the colors neutral although I will throw in a slight berry lip or darker purple in the crease. Hopefully that helps you guys get a little inspiration for work friendly make-up look or for those days that you don't want to wear heavy liner or foundation. I usually apply less foundation during the week when I don't want as much coverage or a more "natural" appearance. I do switch out the bronzer, blush, primer, and lip color most days only because I am trying out some other products but these are my most used for this particular look. I know in a past post  (Best in Beauty 2013- Makeup) I said I did not really enjoy the Jordana Best Lash Extreme Voluminizing Mascara but I am trying my very best this month to use up products so here is an example of one I am adding in each day. Let me know what products you use for your daily "go to" look.
