LOTD: Neutral Pink

Hey loves! Since I have been back in school I have been loving a simple nude pink lip. I just recently got all of my makeup set up and that allowed to find some oldies but goodies hanging out in my collection! I am so excited to be using some old favorites again-- almost like getting a new product. Here are the details in my most recent favorite lip:
Lipstick- Revlon Nude Attitude
Liner- Covergirl Splendid

Are you not totally in love? I totally forgot how creamy this Revlon lipstick was! I don't really love the lipstick on its own because I find it a little bit to beige for my skin tone but layered over this pink lip liner it creates an awesome pinky nude! I find this combo does last for a several hours and even through eating and drinking! What are some of your favorite lip products for work or school?

How To: Extend Your Style Between Washes

Hey Loves! I wanted to share with you guys how I get second day hair and the steps I take to achieve that perfect second day hair. Now if you know me in real life then you know my hair gets extremely greasy and I have a bad habit of touching my hair in the front. I have found that I can get away with not washing my hair for more days if I use a curling wand on either the first day or the second day. When my hair is curly I tend to touch it less because I spend more time teasing my hair so I find that I don't want to mess that up. If you tease your hair then you know what I mean. You just need to find a style that works best for you. I am not into wearing my hair in a ponytail or half-up I just like to wear my hair down a lot of the days. I will occasionally pin my bangs back in the in the front if I feel like they are looking dirty.
Now using the right products are essential in stretching your style out a day or two. The first thing you are going to want to do is really shampoo your roots in the shower with a good clarifying shampoo or any shampoo but just really work this into your roots. My favorite is Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue Shampoo. Next you are going to want to either use a regular conditioner or if you are planning on wearing your hair straight you could do a hair mask. My favorites Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue Conditioner or L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm. I do not suggest using a hair mask if you plan on curling your hair because dirty hair or less conditioned hair will hold a curl longer--if you didn't know.
The day that I wash my hair I usually let me hair air dry about 40% before I add in any products and blow dry. I always try to add some kind of hair serum or oil to keep my hair healthy and shiny. My favorites are Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum or It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In-Conditioner. I also like to add in a heat protectant before I blow dry or use hair tools. My favorites are Kenra Platinum Blow Dry Spray or Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray.  Then I blow dry my hair and either use my flat iron to straighten my hair or use a curling wand to add waves. I like to use my curling wand over my straightener because I end up using less heat over the next few days. My favorite curling wand is by Conair and my straightener is from CHI. I find curling wands hold my hair curly for longer and this requires less touch-ups on day two or three. I try to avoid adding hair spray or finishing sprays after heat styling on the first day because my hair tends to get greasy or crunchy from these types of products.
I wear my hair in a bun on the top of my head  or down to sleep. I do shower on the second and third day but I just put my hair on my head and avoid the water while taking a showering. Don't think because you aren't washing your hair that you can't wash your face or body. Hygiene is important people! Some people wear a shower cap but I find those annoying so I just keep my hair up and out of the water instead.
I leave my hair up until I have finished my makeup and then I let my hair down and brush it out. If my ends are feeling a little dry I might add a little extra serum (as mentioned above) only to my ends. I then take my favorite dry shampoo and spray throughout on my roots. My favorite is Batiste Dry Shampoo Hint of Colour. I make sure to cover my whole head in this product to make sure that my roots are not going to appear oily in anyway. Almost always on the second day I will have curly hair. I either use my wand to touch up any uncurled areas or go ahead and curl my whole head. I like to add a little extra tease on the second day to keep my roots off my my scalp. My favorite product to keep my tease lasting is L'Oreal Boost It High Lift Creation Spray. I use this in conjunction with a teasing comb of my choice.
I will sometimes add a little hair spray on the second or third day depending on how well my hair is holding its style. When I do wash my hair again just remember to really wash your roots because you do not want a build up of product to be left in your hair because that only allows your hair to get dirty faster.

As you can see my second day hair curls are a little less perfect and a little more natural looking which is actually how I prefer my hair to be. If you think your hair needs a little boost of scent feel free to add in a little body mist or hair mist of your choice. If I know I am going to be working out I usually will end up washing my hair-- just a personal preference.
Hopefully this blog post will help you guys save your hair from a little damage of daily shampooing and allow to stretch out those styles a few more days. Do you have any other tips or tricks for extending your style?

Empties- Summer 2014

Hey Loves! As most of you know I have recently moved to a new city and I was hoping to get up an empties post before I moved but obviously I had to bring this trash with me to my new place. I have been trying to use up products before I moved to help clean out my stash-- I don't know how successful I really was but hey, some is better than none right? I know that I have a lot of other products I am getting close to finishing but I did not include those right now. I think there will be another empties post not that far from now. Lets jump right in and see what products I used up and if I loved or hated them...

Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner- I purchased this from TJ Maxx as a pair with the shampoo-obviously I used the condition up first. I was shocked that this is marketed for dry hair because the formula is so light that I did not even feel like this did much for my hair. The scent was clean but I wouldn't repurchase this conditioner again.
Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue Conditioner- Ahh yes another cult favorite showing up in my empties posts on the regular. Yes, I love this and yes, I will continue to repurchase time and time again. It is that simple really--stick to what you like.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deeeeep Conditioner- Again, another fabulous holy grail product that I purchase on the regular. This is a great drugstore deep conditioner to use once a week or even every wash. The smell is tropical and the formula isn't overly heavy. Will repurchase.

Swisspers Cotton Rounds- I believe that I purchased these cotton rounds from Wal-Mart for a few dollars. I actually don't love them. I like the ones from Ulta or the Up & Up Brand ones from Target better. These had a lot of extra cotton pieces that would often fluff off on my face or when I took my nail polish off.
Downy Unstoppables in Shimmer & Glow- I add these into all of my laundry-- just leaves everything smelling fresh for weeks and not to mention soft as well. Shimmer (pink) is probably my favorite flavor followed by Glow (gold). There are two other scents available one is a lavender scent which I don't care for and a fresh linen scent which is also good. I will repurchase when I find them on-sale.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess- I got this bronzer in a travel size kit from Tarte. I did like the over color of the bronzer because it wasn't overly orange but did have some shimmer. I used this for more of an overall bronze instead of for contouring because I prefer a matte bronzer. If you are looking for a good bronzer that isn't overly shimmery then this is for you. I will not purchase because I like other bronzers better. This was alright.
Urban Decay de-slick Makeup Setting Spray- Another holy grail product of my life. If you have oily skin or need to wear makeup for a number of hours continuously then this baby will be your friend. I spray this on after I have finished my whole application of makeup and then sometimes throughout the day just to refresh my face. This also helps your touch-ups not look so cakey. I would tell everyone to try a finishing spray.
Laura Gellar Air Whipped Bronzer- Sad story about this product. I purchased it off of Hautelook a few months ago and when I opened the product for the first time over half of the product was dried up and crusty. I never did get to use this-- I was saving it for a blog post but I decided to just throw it out now. I do have an air whipped blush by Laura Gellar that I really love so I did have high hopes for this product. Have you tried this air whipped bronzer before?

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips- If you suffer from blackheads then these little babies are for you. I honestly don't use them as often as I should so I don't get great results over time but when I do use them I see a lot of gunk leaving my face. I will repurchase but I am not going to rush out and buy them right away.
Crest 3D White Toothpaste in Arctic Fresh- I also purchase the Crest 3D White Toothpaste- flavor doesn't matter but I just like how clean my mouth feels after using this. I am not sure if this really makes my teeth any whiter but I am an avid coffee drinker and my teeth seem to be fairly white still.
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild- I received this as a sample after buying some Clinique products. I actually thought this did a good job of removing makeup and not leaving my skin overly tight. I would purchase but I have other cleanser I am going to use up first or prefer more.
Philosophy Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser- I love love this facial cleanser. I heard about it from Casey Holmes on YouTube she raves about this product so I finally broke down and got this sample size. I love that the ingredients are gentle and doesn't include any acne medications. I have another bottle in my shower now that I am enjoying.

Batiste Dry Shampoo In A Hint of Colour Medium & Brunette- I purchase my dry shampoo's from TJ Maxx for $5.99. I am not overly picky about the scent or flavor really. I usually try to get the ones that are meant for darker hair just because the white cast is usually less. I have a stash of these babies and I will continue to use them up. Holy Grail product for sure.
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral & Flirty Blush- This is one of the first cans in the non-coloured bottles I have used. I was actually surprised that this didn't leave more of a white cast like other dry shampoo's can. I actually loved the fresh scent this has. I would definitely repurchase this in the future.

Sun Labs Self Tanning Lotion Ultra Dark Instant Tint in Dark- I have had this product for over a year or two. I love the green tint to this and the color guard. I like the dupe of this product better from Sally's Beauty Supply called Tanwise. The formula is practically the same and is a hell of a lot cheaper. Check that out instead of this Sunlabs lotion.
Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream in White Citrus- I am not a huge fan of the Triple Moisture Formula I find it to be a bit greasy and overall not all that moisturizing. I love the scents that are available but I would rather apply my favorite non-scented lotion from Nivea and call it a day. I won't repurchase this particular formula anymore.
Bliss High Intensity 24-Heaven Healing Body Balm- I actually really loved this body balm. The scent was really 'heavenly' almost clean and fresh. I loved how the cream rubbed into the skin quickly and did not leave a film after drying completely. I know Bliss products are often at TJ Maxx so I am going to keep my eye open for this there for a better price than at Sephora or Ulta.
Sally Hansen Creme Hair Remover for Face-  This is another holy grail product and this tube isn't totally empty but rather was getting old so I decided to pitch this tube and buy another. I love how quickly and painlessly this removes unwanted facial hair. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to remover your mustache or side burns check out this product.

Paris Hilton Bath & Shower Gel- This came in a perfume set that I received for a holiday awhile back. I usually threw this into my travel bag because of the compact size. If you haven't checked out Paris Hiltons first scent in the pink and black swirled bottle I suggest you check it out. The body wash lathered nicely but I wouldn't repurchase on its own.
Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash in Burnt Brown Sugar & Karite Butter- I love all of the body washes that Caress makes. I am constantly repurchasing these but I think this is my favorite cold weather scent such a rich warm scent. Keep your eyes peeled and check them out.
Listerine Cool Mint Mouthwash- I am not a big mouth wash user which probably isn't the best. I have been trying harder recently to remember to use mouthwash after brushing for that added freshness and cleanliness. I actually love the burn that Listerine has and I prefer the blue or green flavors.

Whew! Hopefully you guys learned a few things by reading up on my empties. I love these posts because you get to see what people are actually using. This time I really didn't have a lot of make-up products but I know my everyday stash has a few things that are getting close to being finished so hopefully next time I will more makeup products for you guys! Stay tuned for more blog posts including reviews and looks.

Review: Revlon Gel Envy Nail Enamel

Hey loves! I have been trying out Revlon's new Gel Envy Nail Enamel for almost 2 weeks now. I love getting gel or shellac done at the nail salon because the color last at least 3 weeks without chipping and leaves your nails feeling so strong. Not to mention the shine is incredible but who wants to pay upwards of $25 dollars to get your nails done every month. I also don't like how awful getting the shellac off is. Your nails may be strong when you are wearing the gel but after my nails always feel weak.
I purchased the polish from Target for $5.99 and the color I chose was an orchid shade called Winning Streak. I recently picked up a dark red called Queen of Hearts that I will be wearing to an upcoming wedding. The one thing that I did not do was pick up the top coat that goes along with this collection. I wanted to see how the polish stood up with just my regular top coat Seche Vite which I purchase from Sally's Beauty Supply.

Here is the nail polish applied with 2 coats of the color Winning Streak and one layer of the Seche Vite fast Dry top coat. I did find that you could get away with just one layer of the color because the opacity was very good. I did two because I normally apply more than one coat.
I only noticed the tip of my nails chipping over time. I also noted that the polish did grow out at the bottom which is very similar to shellac or gel nails. When you first apply the color I think the polish comes off very matte but I do not know if the top coat that comes along with this collection is shiny or not. I used my regular top coat and thing the shine was average.
I am excited to try out the red color so look for an update on that on my Instagram page. What are your favorite brands of polish?
Enjoy

Update! Where have I been?

Hey Loves! I have been gone for a little over a month now from the whole blogging world. I have been staying busy with a million other things. First I took a 2 week vacation and celebrated my time off at two different music festivals a little rock and a little country. Let me tell you that my hair and skin took a number from all of that sunshine.
I have spent the last few weeks moving my things to a new city! For those of you who don't know me personally I have finally been accepted back into school to study sonography (ultrasounds). I have been waiting a few years to get into the program and unexpectedly I was accepted one month before classes started. I have spent my time packing, moving, doing orientations, and finishing out my last month at my current job position.
Today was my last day working with the Marshfield Clinic and it was definitely a bittersweet goodbye. I am looking forward to my new adventures in a new city and starting back at school after being out for a few years. Now that I will be not working full-time I am hoping to have more free time to write blogs for you guys! Make sure you leave comments on this post or my facebook/instagram with any requests.
Since moving and finding out I would be in school I have been trying so hard to use up products and not buy new products that I don't need. I have been loving rediscovering products from my collection and seeing my stash dwindling down. My empties bag is filling up quickly and I am hoping to do another empties post real soon.
