Hate It-Maybelline Dream Wonder Pressed Powder

Hey Loves! I recently picked up Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder in 20 Classic Ivory
at Target.  You can see that haul here. I was looking for a new drugstore powder because I am currently using two high end powders MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium and Laura Gellar Balance N Brighten in Medium. I always am on the hunt for drugstores products that are comparable to high end goodies.  I had actually seen several reviews on the Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder which were all positives. So I saw the product at Target and just had to try it out.

First impression the powder has an amazing silky texture that you can feel. The powder is almost buttery it is so smooth. I was so excited to try this out-so I applied my regular foundation routine and use this to set my foundation.  I thought the color was a little dark but I just blended the extra on to my neck and I was fine.

After 6 hours
After 6 hours
I absolutely hate this powder. This pictures are not even doing justice to how orange and splotchy my face was. I could not even believe how disgusting my face was looking. I did notice throughout the day that my face was starting to look a little darker I figured the powder was just oxidizing a little but my goodness I was looking like I was straight from the cast of Jersey Shore.  I even used a tissue to wipe off my makeup at work because I looked that bad.
I would not repurchase this product nor would I tell anyone else to try it. Such a waste of money-- I don't even know what I am going to do with the product now. What drugstore powders do you enjoy?

NEW-Favorite Brow Product

Hey Loves! I recently purchased Anatasia DipBrow Pomade in Chocolate to try for my eyebrows. I love filling in my brows because that step really brings the whole look together. I can't remember the last time I didn't fill them in just a little. I have used Revlon's Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown for years and I honestly love it for a great drug store pencil. I have not tried any other high end eyebrow product before. I was looking into getting the Anatasia Brow Pencil but I decided to try the DipBrow Pomade instead. I was actually shocked to find out that for the pomade it was only $18.00 dollars at Ulta. I usually spend around $7 on my  brow pencil every 6 weeks so in the end this pomade is cheaper and will last a whole lot longer.

I am in LOVE with the look this pomade gives. I feel like my eye brows look so polished and perfect. I use a $3 e.l.f. cosmetics angled brush to apply. You do need to be careful when applying and use short strokes-time is key in this. You can easily clean up with a q-tip if needed. The product does dry completely in a few minutes-beware not to smear.

DipBrow Pomade in Chocolate

DipBrow Pomade in Chocolate
As you can see my eye brows are the perfect color to match my hair. I am always afraid that eye brow products in a brown color usually are too red and I hate that. I am very surprised how true to color this pomade is. I feel the name says it all-Chocolate.  I wore this product through an entire work day and for the sake of testing out the lasting power I did not wash off at night and woke up with fabulous brows.

Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown
This is my eye brow with my old eye brown routine. As you tell my brow is a little lighter more of an ashy brown but it was the only pencil I could find that wasn't red. I will still continue to use the pencil on occasions when I don't want such a done looking brow but the pomade as now become a holy grail product for sure!

Pros:
-long lasting
-great color match-2nd darkest shade
-good price for how long you will be able to use the product

Cons:
-probably will dry out before you finish entirely
-small color selection over all in the line-5 colors total

What is your favorite brow product?

Review: Benefit POREfessional

Hey loves! I am going to review a well know favorite primer of mine Benefits POREfessional. To give you a little background I have oily acne prone skin with large pores around my nose and chin. I like to wear full coverage foundation a lot of the time and I need something that will help my makeup stay that whole time, keeps me matte and pores filled.

What are the claims?
"PRO balm to minimize the appearance of pores"

Do you think the claims are true?
I do. I feel like this helps to fill in my large pores and I think this works awesome as a primer to make your foundation last all day. I also think this keeps my face matte and less shiny than other primers.

Where do you find POREfessional?
I purchase mine from Ulta for $30.00 or you can also get trial samples in gift kits which I always recommend first. I have both a full-size (0.75 lf oz) and a trial size (0.25 fl oz).

How do you apply this primer?
I usually apply under my makeup on top of moisturizer and use a patting motion. I like to focus most of the product on my t-zone and then lightly all over. You can also use this primer on top of makeup to touch up the look of your foundation throughout the day.

What does the primer feel like?
The primer has a very smooth texture but not as silicone feeling as other primers. The color is a tan almost skin like color but does not give any coverage. I think the primer has a slight scent- a light lemon fresh scent. I don't mind the scent.

Have you broken out from POREfessional?
I have not noticed any breakouts in the areas I apply the primer.

Do you think people with dry skin could use this primer?
I certainly do. I don't feel like this is overly drying and does not claim to be mattifying I just think that is an added bonus.

I think this is an amazing pore-minimizing primer that has added bonus of keeping makeup long lasting and matte. I would recommend this to every one who is looking for a new primer. I know that POREfessional is a little pricey but I have not found a drug store primer that works as well. What is your favorite primer?

Small Target Haul

Hey loves! After a long awaited no buy month I am excited to finally get to purchase some beauty goodies! I made a quick stop at Target-see what I got below!

Target:

Up&Up Cleansing Towelettes
L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum
Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder in 20 Classic Ivory

I love these brand target make up remover wipes. They are amazing and super cheap. I do not get any burning sensations around my eyes and I find they do remove a decent amount of makeup including eye makeup. I have been eyeing this Youth Code Serum since I heard Casey Holmes talk about this months ago. I found a coupon online for $2.00 off this product so I picked it up for $17.99. I am always on the hunt for a good mattifying drugstore powder. I like the other Maybelline Dream Matte powder- I heard they have redone the formula and created this baby so we will see if I like it or not.

Empties-No Buy January

Hey loves! That time has come for another empties post! These are always my favorite posts to read or watch on YouTube. I love getting the mini reviews and actually seeing what products get used up on the regular. Now this months empties isn't exactly my favorite all time most used products. I was forcing myself to use up products that I had laying around and I feel like I did an alright job doing that. Lets dive right in-

Proactiv Sololution Revitalizing Toner- I used to use Proactiv religiously when I was in my teens but I never really felt like the products were doing anything. I had this half bottle laying around so I used it up but I will not repurchase. I am on the hunt for a new toner if you know any let me know!
Bain de Terre Argon Oil Sleek & Smooth Conditioner- Now this is a favorite product. I purchase mine at Tj Maxx for $9.99. I am constantly using these conditioners up and I have another flavor in my shower right now. My hair feels so healthy and soft after using these. I like the shampoo's too. I usually just purchase whatever flavor they have at the store I am not that picky on the smells. They are all amazing-check out your local Tj Maxx.
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser- Another staple item in my face care routine. I started using this product again in my teens per recommendations of my dermatologist. I use this product every morning in the shower and sometimes at night with my clarisonic. This face wash does not leave my skin dry or tight feeling. I have coupon for CerVe face wash so I am going to try that next.

Downy Unstoppables In-Wash Scent Booster Shimmer Scent-  Must have laundry favorite if you are just as obsessed with that fresh linen scent as me. I love these little beads- I just throw in a cap full into my laundry and my clothes smell amazing for weeks. The scent lasts so long and makes your clothes soft as well. I love washing my bedding with these as well. Amazing check out if you haven't already.
Nivea Extended Moisture Daily Lotion-  I purchased this over a year ago and would use occasionally. After I forced myself to use this everyday I fell in love! I have dry skin and I also hate that greasy feeling some lotions leave you with. This is not greasy at all and leaves my skin feeling so soft all day long. I would say there is a light fresh scent but nothing that is over powering or will compete with perfume. I think both girls and guys would love this lotion. I am going to repurchase for sure.
Bath & Body Works Body Spray in Be Enchanted- I love these little travel size bottles for my purse and gym bag. I like to wear these light body sprays for work so my scent isn't over bearing for patients. This is definitely a sweet girly scent. B&BW website says the key tones are Mouthwatering Citrus, Iced Pomegranate, Chilled Wildberries, Crystallized Passionfruit. I would repurchase after I finish some other body sprays.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyelid Primer-  I got this in a Ulta order as a sample. I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion daily. I actually did like this primer-I have very oily lids and this did keep my shadow on all day long. I might purchase in the future after I finish up my UDPP.
Carmex Strawberry Moisturizing Lip Balm- I am not really picky about my chapsticks. I usually just grab one from the grocery check out. I did like this formula and scent. I like that it applies a little bit thicker than other chapsticks.
It's Potent Benefit's Eye Cream- This is actually the second sample I have had of this eye cream. Honestly, I am not overly impressed and I think the scent is totally over powering. I feel like there are better eye creams out there. I would not repurchase
Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polish In 8 Celia- Obviously I did not finish this polish but the polish has turned all goopy and is drying out. I do like to wear pink polish in the summer on my toes especially. I have other pinks that I need to use up before I buy anymore.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer- I didn't actually use up this product I just hate it.  I have oily skin and this did nothing to help prevent oil or keep my makeup on. My noon my makeup was sliding around and I was looking like a greasy monster. The texture is like any other silicone based primer. I will not repurchase.
Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Buff Beige- As everyone knows this is one of my favorite foundations not only just drugstore foundations either. See that review here. I think the coverage is amazing and lasting power is outrageous. I currently am into another bottle and I will continue to repurchase.
Clinique High Impact Mascara- I don't know if I got a bad tube or what but this mascara smells. I tried to wear it a few days but the formula was dry and did nothing for my lashes. I won't repurchase.
Benefit They're Real Mascara-  I am impartial to this mascara. I like the formula but I hate the rubber bristle brush. I did use this in combination with other mascaras and I did enjoy it. I won't repurchase because of the brush.
Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown- I feel like this shows up in every one of my empties posts. I use this daily for my eye brows and I love the color. I will repurchase but I am thinking about trying the Anastasia Brow Dip.
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Liner in 270 Purple Shock- I didn't finish this product either. I think I have just had this for too many years. I do like the color and I like to add a little pop of color here and there this works great. I have other purple liners I need to use up so for the time being I won't repurchase.
Whew! That was a lot of products to get through. I am going to try to do monthly empties post so I can keep them smaller. Hopefully you enjoy the mini reviews. What products did you use up this month?

Update-No Buy January

Hey loves! I challenged myself to not purchase any excess makeup or beauty products for the whole month of January and let me say as a makeup addict I struggled. I have plagued Target and Walgreens all month because I did not want to be tempted to buy anything.

I did allow myself to repurchase an item if I had used up all the back ups I had. The two makeup items I did repurchase were my holy grail eye brow pencil Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown and I used up 2 sample mascaras and almost all of my regular mascara so I purchased the Covergirl Bombshell Volume mascara which I did a first impression on here.
I am fairly surprised with the number of products I used up this month. Although these products might not of been my favorites but now they are out of my collection. I also went through my stash and gave away a whole bag. I have created plenty of room for new goodies.

I have created a list of goodies that I can't wait to repurchase! I can't wait to pick up the NYX butter lipsticks and L'Oreal youth code products. Also coming soon is a post on all the products that I used up this month so stay tuned for that. Did you stick to this months goal? My next month's goal is to bring my lunch to work everyday so I don't waste money in the cafeteria or on junk! Not really beauty related but will still save me money =)
