Top 20 Makeup Products Under $20 Dollars

Hey loves! I saw this video go up on Nicole Guerriero's channel the other week and I knew I had to do my top 20 makeup products as well. These are items that are perfect for when you are trying to build your collection or on a budget. I am a firm believer that they are good drugstore/inexpensive products available-now not all of these products are drugstore some are high-end but still under $20. I have named the products in no particular order:

1.       NYX Butter Gloss- These are the creamiest and most pigmented glosses around! I usually find mine at Target or Ulta for around $5. The color range is amazing from nude-pink-deep reds. If you are looking for a no fuss gloss that isn’t sticky then these are the glosses for you. My personal favorite is Crème Brulee which is a great nude.

2.       Real Techniques Brushes- Best drugstore brushes around. These are available at Ulta prices from $5.99+. These brushes are created by YouTube guru Samantha Chapman.  You can also buy these brushes in Faces or Eye sets. The brushes do not shed and are super soft. I also am a HUGE fan of their Makeup Sponge which is comparable to the beauty blender for ¼ of the price.

3.       Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser- My go to under eye concealer. I use shade light to highlight my under eye area. This is a light weight formula that gives great coverage without creasing. Available at most drugstores for around $7.

4.       L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara- By far my all-time favorite mascara of life. I have tried a million high end and drugstore mascaras and to me this is the blackest, most thickening and lengthening mascara available. The key to this product is to buy the product and then open the tube and let sit for 2 weeks so the formula dries out a bit.  I never have transfer or flaking. Available at most drugstores or Ulta for $7.

5.       MAC Prolong Wear Concealer- Now this is a high-end concealer that runs around $18 for a bottle.  This concealer gives maximum coverage and is great to use with a facial moisturizer to create a light weight daily foundation. I also use this when I want to look super flawless under my eyes and to conceal redness. The only flaw is that this has a pump that always pumps out way more than is needed. If you are looking to splurge on a high-end concealer I would try this out.

6.       Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation and Primer- If you have oily skin or combination skin this foundation will last through a whole work day and then some. I apply a primer underneath only because I am super oily. I wear shade Buff Beige. I do notice some oxidation with the product so I would advise getting a shade lighter. If you want a full coverage foundation than this product is for you.

7.       Revlon Color Stay Foundation- This is another Holy Grail foundation I have fallen in love with and repurchased several times. This foundation has a wide shade selection as well as 2 formulas available for oily combination skin and dry skin. I wear shade 180 Sand Beige. This foundation is very long wearing and full coverage. Available at drugstores and Ulta for $9.

8.       Rimmel Exaggerate Full Color Lip Liners- I don’t wear lip liners a whole lot but I do feel this is one product that doesn’t need to be purchased high-end always. I like this formula because they apply smoothly and come in a pencil form that is able to just roll up instead of sharpen-this is great for travel or your purse. My favorite color is a deep red in Ravish. These are available at drugstores or Ulta for around $4.

9.       Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner- I find myself going back to this eyeliner continuously not only is this inexpensive but the color is truly black. I do not have issues with this liner transferring onto other places or smudging off.  I only have to repurchase this twice a year obviously does not dry out very fast. This is a felt tip liner and great for creating winged liner. Available at most drugstores or Ulta for around $6.

10.   Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr Eye shadows- These are amazing eye shadow bases or they can even be worn alone without creasing. Amazingly creamy formula that blends easily and dries without tackiness. I love these for long wearing looks or if you want something extra. My favorite colors are bad to the bronze and tough as taupe. Available at drugstores and Ulta for $6.

11.    Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray Travel Size- Now I know that the full-size of this product is actually $30 but the travel size is only $14 and works great for your purse or travel. This has totally transformed the longevity of my makeup and keeps my oil under control for easily 6 hours. Great for a touch-up midday or right after application. Available at Ulta or Sephora.

12.   L’Oreal Magic Soufflé Blush- This is a cream blush that is very light weight whipped formula that blends well and dries to a powder finish. You do not have to add a powder blush on top of this product but I usually do just because I have oily skin. My favorite color is angelic which is a light peach. I apply with an elf stippling brush (#16) over my foundation and a little goes along way with these cream blushes. Available at drugstores or Ulta $8.

13.   Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Crème Cream Bronzer- This is a drugstore dupe for the Chanel an de soleil cream bronzer. You can find this only at Target stores or online for around $13.  If you are like me and love wearing a matte bronzer in the summer than this is for you. There are a few shades to choose from and you only need a little bit of product. I usually use this for my contour in the summer months.

14.    L’Oreal Colour Riche La Laque and La Matte Lip Stick- If you want a no fuss no muss lip stick these are amazing. I like the matte and laque formulas both are long wearing and the color pigmentation is amazing. They are in a roll up pen which makes on the go application super easy. Available at drugstores and Ulta for around $7.

15.   NYX Powder Blush- These blushes are highly pigmented and come in a great range of colors. They are long lasting and you barely need to dip your brush in some colors. My personal favorites are cinnamon (bright orange) and terracotta (dusty peach). Available at Target stores and Ulta around $6.

16.   E.L.F. Cosmetics Brushes- This is another affordable brand of brushes range between $1-$6. Not all of the brushes are great but there are a lot that are. My favorites include small stipple brush, blush brush, and powder brush (like a flat top kabuki). Available online or at Target Stores.

17.   Revlon Brow Fantasy Brow Pencil- This was a Holy Grail product of mine for years before I started using the Anastasia DipBrow Pomade (#18). I still keep this pencil in my purse for touch-ups but I do not use to fill in my brows daily. If you are looking for a good brow pencil from the drugstore I would suggest this product. Not only does this have a pencil end it also has a colored brow gel. Available at Ulta and most drugstores for $7.

18.   Anastasia DipBrow Pomade- My newest favorite brow product. I use an elf angled brush (#16) to apply. This comes in a few shades and allows you to apply a lot or a little. This is a waterproof formula that allows your brows to stay all day without any smudging. Available at Ulta or Sephora for $18. I use shade chocolate.

19.   Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil- Now this product hits the $20 mark but you can also get smaller pencils in sets for around the same price throughout the year. I have not found a better liner that doesn’t smudge or run in my water line. I haven’t tried several drugstore options but all do not stay put as well as this pencil. I wish they were available in a roll-up form. Available at Ulta or Sephora.

20.   Wet N Wild Single Shadows and Trios- These eye shadows are quite the gem of the drugstore. They apply so creamy without a lot of fallout and the pigmentation is better than any other drugstore shadow. Usually run around$2-$4 for singles and trios at Wal-Mart.

Whew! Now those are my favorite 20 makeup products under $20! Do you have any that are similar in your collection? The only thing that I haven’t found is a great powder for fewer than 20 dollars. I use the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Medium currently which is around $30. Let me know if you have any suggestions for a drugstore powder.

TAG: Beauty Scenario!

Hey loves! I saw this tag on LeighAnnSays channel on YouTube. I think tags are so interesting because they are questions that you normally would not know the answer too. Gives you that extra insight into peoples beauty minds.

Questions:

*You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?

Yikes! I am such a foundation snob and I own a million. I would say High end would be Smashbox Studio Skin in 2.1 and drugstore Revlon Colorstay for Oily Skin in 180 Sand Beige.

*You go in for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?

Here is how I always think about these types of situations- if that was me I would want someone to tell me. Kind of like when you go on a date and have food in your teeth and you go to the bathroom and are so embarrassed they didn't tell you.  Same goes for an interview if there is lipstick just say so the person will respect you more for saying something than ignoring the fact there is something in their teeth.

*You're not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to your make yourself feel beautiful?

If I had to go with a lipstick I would pick a deep red- nothing is sexier than a red lip. I also like to add a little winged liner for added confidence.

*You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

Stop plucking your eye brows and wear a foundation that actually matches your skin tone.

*You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you A. smile say thank you leave and call your mom hysterical B. Cry in the chair and things get awkward or C. complain to the manager and demand a refund?

I wouldn't pick any of these options-secretly I want to chop my hair off and a situation like this might be the perfect mistake.

*Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your make-up bag?

Urban Decay Naked Basics- my go to neutral palette that you can go day to night smokey in minutes.

*Your house has been robbed, don't worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What's the product you really hope is safe?

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray- this has been such a game changer for my makeup routine.

*Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you A. just pretend you haven't noticed B. ask them to repurchase it or C. secretly do the same thing to something of theirs

I would just pretend I didn't notice-- none of my makeup is that meaningful that I would be overly upset about. I mean obviously I love all of my products but I can always buy another.

Hopefully this gave you ladies a little insight in to my beauty situations. How would you react?

LOTD: Spring Pink

Hey loves! I love nude lips and a good red lip. I broke out some pink colors this past weekend. I love the lip stick because it is matte and doesn't smudge once the color dries.

Liner: NYX retractable lip liner in Grape Fruit
Lip Stick: L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte in She's so Matte

I wore this lip out to drinks with friends and my lip color lasted a few hours. I like that this lip liner is waterproof and the matte lipstick makes this super long wearing.

I love these L'Oreal lipsticks because they come in giant crayon form so they are super easy to apply and don't bleed outward a at all. Have you tried them?

OOTD: Striped Maxi

Hey loves! I never intended for this OOTD to happen but I ended up loving the outfit so I just have a few pictures from the night to throw in, sorry. This look is super affordable and perfect for spring and summer! Here is the details:

Top: Forever 21
Skirt: Target
Necklace: Target
Clutch: Target
Sandals: Payless

You could totally add a red lip or keep the look neutral with a soft pink or nude. I'm wearing NYX butter gloss in Creme Brûlée over a random pink e.l.f. Studio lipstick.

I love the crop top trend but I am not going to walk out with over half my abdomen showing so I think this was the perfect balance, not too much or too little.

I decided to add a pop of color with the mint clutch. If I could I would wear soley black for the rest of my existance but people would think I was goth if that happened. You could add something coral or a colored necklace too!
Enjoy!

First Impression: Real Techniques Blending Sponge

Hey loves! I have owned a beauty blender for years and I have used mine to death. I heard that Real Techniques was coming out with a dupe. Real Techniques is also one of my favorite makeup brush brand- super affordable and good quality.
I picked this up at Ulta for $5.99 which is a lot cheaper than the beauty blender which usually costs around $20.

I used this with my Covergirl Outlast Stat Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation. I always used my beauty blender damp so I did dampen this sponge as well.
Sponge when damp.

As you can see the sponge gets very large after being dampened. I think this has the same soft texture as the beauty blender. I have tried the Sonia Kashuk Sponge and I thought that was too hard I use to blend in foundation.
My foundation came out looking flawless and airbrushed looking. I did blend out my under eye concealer with this real techniques sponge.
I have had my beauty blender for over a year and I am not sure how long this sponge will hold up but the price is significantly cheaper so I can always purchase another.

Pros:
-inexpensive
-soft texture
-great shape
Cons:
-durability

Overall I am very pleased and I am going to continue to try this product out. What do you guys think?

4 Overnight Products You Should be Using

Hey loves! CarlyWoods from HSN created a great blog post on 4 Overnight Beauty Products You Should be Using (link at bottom of post). I saw that list and I thought I would add 4 other essentials items for you night time routine.  She focused mostly on skincare but I am going for a holistic approach.

1.      Love Your Hands and Feet

Everyone needs to show their hands and feet some love by either adding a thick hand cream or body lotion nightly. For extra moisture throw on a pair of socks after lathering your feet-you’ll be amazed how soft they will be in the morning.

2.      Apply Chapstick

Whether you use a conditioning lip treatment or plain old chapstick your lips can’t be neglected. Moisturize nightly for non-flaky lips.  Use your toothbrush to get rid of dead skin before applying.

3.      Hydration

Keep your body hydrated by drinking or having a glass of water next to your bed at night. How many times do you wake up hungry or thirsty? Easy way to each those 8 glasses daily.

4.      Sparkle

A nice set of white teeth could never be easier. Applying a whitening pen once a week will help maintain your smile and you won’t notice any taste while you are sleeping. A win win right?

Hopefully by reading both of our posts you will be able to solidify your nightly routine. What other products do you love for at night?
