BLOGcember Review: Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

Hey Loves! BLOGcember Day 17! Today I am reviewing Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray! Shout out to Markie for requesting this-- we are both avid lovers of this spray! Find her on Instagram @MarkieJo26.

Where can you purchase?
I usually get mine at Ulta only because I have one near me but otherwise online at Urban Decays Website and most Sephora's.

How much is this product?
The full-size is $30 and travel sizes are around $10. The full-size usually lasts me a few months I would say 3-4 months. I have seen gift sets that include a full-size and travel for around $34 so I usually pick them up when I see them at the store.

How do you apply?
I like to spray 3-4 sprays onto my face after I have applied my foundation, powder, blush, ad bronzer to set my makeup for the day. Some people also like to spritz on before applying foundation for extra de-slicking. I will sometimes spray on half-way through the day if I know I am going to be wearing my makeup for an extended period of time.

Scent?
I don't think this has a scent that is overly noticeable.

Purpose?
This specific setting spray is designed for us oily girls to help keep oil at bay throughout the day. Urban Decay also makes other settings sprays that are geared toward more normal/combo/dry skin and those are excellent as well. I think this spray not only keeps my oil under control but also makes my foundation last long without breakdown.

Negatives?
The only bad thing isn't about the product itself it is the packing that stinks. The bottle had this smooth white finish that attracts dirty and when working with makeup there are always excess powders around so the outside of the bottle doesn't stay white for very long!

Dupes?
I have heard that the new L'Oreal makeup setting sprays are almost identical and around half the price. I have been searing for that for awhile now and have been unsuccessful.

I use this daily but you don't have too if you aren't wearing makeup. I know on the days that I skip or forget to apply I notice my makeup melting and shine occurring. The mist is a little scary at first but honestly isn't that bad, you'll get used to it I promise!

BLOGcember Review: Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation

Hey Loves! Today I am going to be reviewing one of my favorite high end foundation for you guys. The Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation has been in my collection for several years and I believe I am on my third bottle. I just can't give this enough love:

Where can I purchase this product?
You can find this product online at Smashbox's website, Sephora, or Ulta Stores.

How much does this foundation cost?
Usually retails for around $42 for 1 fl ounce.

How many shades are available?
There are currently 12 shades available with ranging tones both warm and cool.  I wear 1.2 without self-tan and shade 2.2 with self-tan or in the summer months.

How do you apply this foundation?
I generally use a damp beauty sponge (Real Techniques Miracle Blending Sponge) or my F80 Sigma brush. I find that you have plenty of time to blend this into your skin so you do not have to rush or do one side at a time.

How is the staying power?
The foundation is marketed as a 15 hour wear foundation which I totally agree with. I can apply this foundation in the morning around 7 am and wear long into the night. I do use a primer before applying and a setting spray after application. I also set my foundation with powder always because I have oily skin. I do not tend to see any break down in the product throughout the day even in my oily areas.

What is the coverage like?
This foundation is not thick actually pumps out a little liquidity but you can apply one layer for medium/full coverage and two layers for full coverage. I am usually a full coverage gal but I love to just apply one layer of this foundation because the coverage is amazing over red spots or blemishes.

Any dupes?
I have tried a million and one drugstore foundations but I do not think there is a comparable foundation available. I think this is well worth the money and will last you a long time! You need very little (one pump) to cover your entire face easily.

If you are in the market for a new highend foundation I would suggest this for you. I think Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation will work for all skin types (Normal., Combo, Oily). Oily ladies do not let the hydrating word fool you--the finish is semi-matte or totally matte if set with a powder.

BLOGcember Review: Joico K-Pak Conditioner

Hey loves! Another BLOGcember review for you! I am reviewing the Joico K-Pak Conditioner which is a newer product in my hair care collection. I purchased a small size (10.1 fl oz) from TJ Maxx a month ago. I have completely used up the conditioner and I am in love! I have already repurchased the large size ( 1 Liter)-lets jump into the review:

Where can you find this product?
I purchased both sizes from TJ Maxx but you can also find at most salons or some Ulta's carry Joico Products.

How does this product cost?
I purchased the small size (10.1 fl oz) for $7.99 and large size ( 1 Liter) for $16.99. Now remember TJ Maxx has discounted pricing so if you purchase from a salon professional expect to pay at least double.

Scent?
The first time I used the product I immediately knew what the scent was- Green Apple. Now don't get nervous I am not a fan of Green Apple candy but this smells like a Crisp Fresh Apple. I do not find that after rinsing my hair the scent is over powering -just smells refreshing.

Conditioning Power?
K-Pak Conditioner does contain Keratin which is good for your hair but not every day or wash. Keratin helps to strengthen your hair but if you apply too much this will actually weaken your hair. I would advise using this product every other wash to be safe. My hair feels so incredibly soft and shiny after use.

Comparable drugstore products?
I don't personally know of any drugstore products that contain Keratin or make my hair feel this healthy. If you do know of any please let me know!

How would you rate this product?
I would give this a 4.5/5 hands down one of the best conditioners I have ever tried.

Overall if you are in the need for a new conditioner or your hair is feeling less than healthy I totally recommend this to you. I would check TJ Maxx first because the price point is so much better practically drugstore pricing.

BLOGcember Review: Maybelline FIT me! Shine-Free Foundation

Hey Loves! BLOGcember has been amazing so far!!! I am hoping you guys are loving these posts as much as I am. I am totally shopping my stash and looking for all kinds of products. Don't forget to let me know if there is a certain product you want me to review or a type of product (foundation, eye shadow, lip stick)!
Today I am going to be review Maybelline FIT me! Shine-Free Foundation in 330 Toffee Caramel. I discovered this product as I was looking for a cream product to use for contouring from the drugstore. I was specifically looking for a cream product that was available in a stick form for easy application. I also did not want to use a dark colored concealer stick because I find those to be harder to blend into the skin since they are meant to just stay in one place and not be spread across a larger area.

Swatched Indoor Lighting
Where can I find this product?
Maybelline products are available at most drugstores (Target, Wal-Mart, CVS, etc..)
How much is this product?
Usually retails between $7-$9.00

How many shades are available?
There are 12 shades available but remember not all drugstores carry every shade a product has available and usually are the most popular shades.
Staying Power?
Remember I am using this strickly as a contour shade not for an all over face coverage. I do have oily skin and this product is listed as oil-free. I also set this product with a darker powder for better staying powder. I do think this last around 8 hours without any touch-ups.
Blendability?
This product is super creamy when applied directly to the skin. If you are not a fan of applying this type of product directly to your face you can always apply to the back of a clean hand and use a blending brush to apply to the skin. The product does not set quickly so you have ample time to blend into the areas that you desire.
Dislikes?
I think for a drugstore foundation stick this product does a rather good job for the purpose I use it for. I don't know how well it would wear all over the skin. Specifically I do not have any dislikes because I have not really explored a lot of other foundation sticks.
Dupes?
If you are looking for a higher end foundation stick I would recommend checking out the Mally Ultimate Performance Foundation for Complete Coverage. This is a well known raved about product for lasting power and amazing coverage.
Overall I am very pleased with this product and I will continue to this until I find something else I want to try for my cream contouring. If you have any products you love make sure to leave those products down below!

BLOGcember Review: Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash

Hey Loves! I hope everyone is enjoying BLOGcember as much as I am! I am having so much fun picking out products to review for you guys. The only hard part is trying to not just pick out products I love to share with you guys! This review is going to be my first BLOGcember review on a product that I did not care for! Lets jump right into the review Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash:

Where can you find this product?
At Sephora or online at the Origins website.

How much is this product?
There are two sizes available (1.7 ounce) $12 and ( 5 ounce) $21.50.

Does this product remove makeup or makeup residue?
I believe this does a fairly good job removing face makeup but I find that it leaves behind some mascara/eyeliner around my eyes.

Foaming Action?
Just as the name claims this is a truly frothy face wash that foams up perfectly and feels amazing when rubbing onto the skin almost creamy.

Scent?
The cleanser has a light and what I would describe as an earthy or natural scent that is not over powering.

Dislikes?
The only major problem I have with this cleanser is I do not like how when you rinse off the product your skin feels "squeaky" clean or tight.

Rating?
I would give this product a 2.5/5 just because I cannot stand that overly tight feeling to my skin and how some eye makeup is left behind after cleansing.

Overall the product is horrible but definitely not for me.  I prefer a more gentle cleanser like Philosophy's Purity Cleanser (highend) or Cetaphil Gentle Face Wash (drugstore) which do not foam up as well but leave my skin feeling fresh and moisturized. I would recommend those products over this cleanser any day.

This product is also mentioned in my product Empties video:

BLOGcember Review: Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian

Hey Loves! I am not a huge fan of lip glosses because I prefer matte lips better but recently I dug into my lip product drawer and found this beauty! I cannot stop wearing my Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian. If you are looking for a great high end creamy nude gloss then this is for you! I do need to say that this line of lip glosses is plumping and does have that tingly feeling. I do not think it burns by any means but there is a noticeable tingle.

Where can you find this product?
Sephora, Ulta, and Bare Minerals website.

How much is this product?
Usually retails around $19.

Available in other shades?
You can purchase all 10 shades only at Sephora.

Lasting Power?
I think this is one of the longest wearing lip glosses around and usually last 4 hours.

Pigmentation?
. The pigmentation is amazing and the best part is that there is no shimmer or glitter in the lip gloss just high intensity high!

How would I rate this product?
This is probably my favorite high end lip gloss so I would give it a 4/5. I know that some people are not huge fans of plumping lip glosses so these won't be for everyone.

Any dupes?
I think it is rather hard to find lip glosses in the drugstore that do not have any glitter or shimmer so off hand I don't think there are any exact dupes. Revlon used to make a lip gloss called Peach Petal that was pretty close but more of light peach than a light pink color but probably the closest thing available from the drugstore.

This product is also mentioned in my November Favorites Video:

Review: Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

Hello Ladies! I am back with another review, this time on Clinque's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I had heard nothing but rave reviews about this product that I was just dying to go out and purchase it. I was honestly so excited I picked up mine at the Clinque counter at Younkers for $24.50. I have oily skin so I chose to get the gel instead of the lotion.

This comes with a pump that gives you enough product to apply all over your face. I really loved the gel and how it felt smooth on my face. The gel does have a scent to it but to me it just smells fresh no real perfume scent at all. This does come out of the bottle with a light yellow tint but goes on your skin clear. After using this product for over 8 weeks I am less than impressed with this product. I have recently heard that they changed the formulation and a lot of people have said that it doesn't work as good any longer.

I was so hoping this was going to be the holy grail of moisturizers but I am so disappointed. I am going to finish up this product and not repurchase or recommend to others. Have any 0f you had this same experience with this product?

Enjoy =)

Review: E.l.f. Beautybook Smoky Eye Edition

Hello Ladies! I am back with a review on the ELF Beautybook Smoky eye edition. Now I already have this palette from last year which has more neutral colors and this year it is filled with greys, blues, and purples. I got it on clearance in Target a couple of weeks ago and just decided to use it tonight... hate when that happens. I paid $3.48 but originally it was $5. You can also buy these palettes online at eyeslipsface.com

Swatches are not the greatest, sorry.

I am totally in love with the middle colors which happen to be purples. The deepest shade really caught my eye it is a plum with goldish shimmer. It did not show up very well in the swatch but I totally love it. I think the grey/black colors on the bottom row are the same as last years palette except that the black is matte this time instead of having shimmer which I love! I am not really too excited to play around the blues really. I honestly think that blue eye shadow can come off as trashy, no offense to those of you that love it I honestly just don't love it.
This palette also comes with a double sponge applicator and a mini eye liner. I use the sponge tip to create the look below as long as the eye liner which is very very hard and not really that fabulous, but might work well as an eyeliner to throw into your purse for touch ups.

I used the purples and made this quick look while watching Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. I am totally in love with these shows. Hopefully you ladies enjoyed this look!

what do you guys think of this palette?

enjoy =)

Review: Got2B Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm

Hello Ladies! I am back with another review this time is a RAVE review! I recently discovered this heat protectant while at Wal-Mart with the intent to repurchase the Treseme Heat Tamer Spray. I honestly LOVE LOVE the Treseme one but this one by Got2B is amazing.

You can get this product at almost any drugstore (Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target) and it only cost me $4.82 at my local Wal-Mart, which is honestly such a great deal. You get a total of 6.8 fl oz.

I have been using this product for like I would say roughly 4 weeks now. I use it before I blow dry my hair and before I use any heat tools on it. I also love the smell so much that I like to throw it in my purse and freshen up my hair after I am done with work. I honestly promise you will love the smell. I think I enjoy the smell so much I actually spray on way more than I really need. I do not find that this makes my hair greasy at all or feel sticky. I have used Chi Iron Guard and I am not a fan it, that leaves my hair feeling sticky and stiff. This Iron Balm leaves your hair feeling soft and shiny after you use it. Got2b also claims that this protects up to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, which I totally agree with. I have adjustable heat on my of my hair tools and I love to crank that heat all the up every time.

Don't let the term "balm" scare you, I was honestly thinking that this would come out kinda of thick and sticky and in NO WAY does this happen. I do not have any bad things to say about this product.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • AMAZING smell
  • No thick/sticky feeling
  • Available many places

You ladies try this out and let me know what you think! If you have tried it let me know also! Enjoy =)

Review: Head and Shoulders Smooth & Silky

Hello Ladies! Just wanted to put up a little quick review blog about one of my favorite drugstore shampoo's and conditioner's. I love to try out new shampoos and conditioners from the drugstore. I know everyone claims they are SO bad for your hair but I am sorry I love a lot of them especially this one! I find myself coming back to this duo a lot. I do find that a lot of people think this shampoo/conditioner is only for people with dandruff, totally a lie. This leaves my hair feeling soft, silky, and totally shiny.
It is an added bonus that if you do get some flakes during the changing weather this stuff will keep your scalp in check.

I love the smell of this, I cannot even describe it really but it is just amazing. I would really suggest that you definitely try it out. Enjoy =)

What are your top picks for drugstore shampoo and conditioner?

Review: Revlon Peach Petal Nail Polish

Hello! I am back with another review. I picked this up nail polish at Walmart yesterday it was part of little haulish stuff I got at Walmart. Not exciting. I was really looking for a new nail polish color. Since I got this new job I have to stick with lighter nail polish colors that look more professional at FamVid I could really wear whatever colors I wanted. Here is the polish

I had to apply 2 coats of the Peach Petal and then I added 1 top coat from Sally Hansen. I always add at clear top coat it seriously seems like my nail polish stays on longer. I really like this color its not quite like Malibu Barbie Pink and its light enough to not be super bright. I am really satisfied with the purchase. In some spots the color is a little see thru but not really a huge deal to me. I think this was like $3.46 maybe at Walmart.
I really am a fan of Sinful Color nail polishes that are only 2 dollars are Walgreens but I am sorta liking this Revlon polish.. I might have to try out another color.

Well I am off to bed hopefully going to Madison in the morning. I am planning to go shopping maybe I can make a haul for you all! Have a great night.

Review: Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner

Aussie Moist 3-Minute Miracle Deeeeep Reconstructor

Alright, So I am back reviewing another product I think is fabulous. Seriously everyone needs to deep condition your hair at least one time a week so I went to the drugstore to check out what kind of things they had available.
Normally I probably wouldn't try this brand "aussie" but hey, it was under 4 dollars and who cannot resist that!!! I used it the next day in the shower. I love the smell; I am not sure how to really describe the smell but tropical is all I can say. This left my hair feeling amazingly soft. I even recommended to a friend the next day.
Since I have been through 1 whole bottle and I am half way through my second. Some days I just shampoo my hair in the shower and then towel dry my hair and throw a handful of this in and leave it an hour or two while I clean or do laundry. Makes my hair even MORE amazing. Try this puppy out
Enjoy =]
